FORT MOHAVE — A Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a shooting early Monday afternoon, the sheriff’s office reported.

At about 12:37 p.m., deputies responded to a tip of an impaired driver driving a silver Neon passenger vehicle, according to a press release from MCSO. Deputies located the male suspect and his vehicle in a parking lot at the corner of Highway 95 and Joy Lane. While deputies were conducting their investigation, the suspect brandished a weapon, the release said.

The deputy fired his service weapon at the suspect. Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department transported the suspect to Valley View Medical Center with a non-life threatening gun shot wound.

The names of the suspect or deputy were not immediately released.

The sheriff’s office has requested the Bullhead City Police Department to investigate the incident to insure impartiality, the release said.
