While the future of medical marijuana in Mohave County is still up in the air, that hasn’t stopped a dispensary from opening across the state border in Needles.
Mojave Desert Wellness opened Saturday morning at 300 J Street to begin filling marijuana prescriptions for qualified patients.
“This town needs a dispensary,” said Brandon Reymer, manager. “There are a lot of sick people either on welfare or disability.”
To obtain a prescription, patients must have a valid California ID and a recommendation from a doctor licensed in the state, Reymer said. Arizona residents do not qualify.
Reymer added that area law enforcement, including the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office, is aware the dispensary is in operation. He said the majority of patients are over 60 years old.
Needles City Manager David Brownlee told Zach News last week that a dispensary was not opening in Needles.
